Lagos records another confirmed case of coronavirus

We cannot reveal name of Italian who brought Coronavirus to Nigeria —Lagos Commissioner

The Lagos State government said on Tuesday, that another person has tested positive to the dreaded coronavirus disease.

The state’s Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, who disclosed this on his Twitter handle stated that the new case of Coronavirus came in through British Airways.

He tweeted, “Breaking! #COVID19Lagos Updates
If you are a passenger on flight BA 75 that arrived in Lagos on 13th March, 2020, stay at home and isolate yourself for 14 days”.

According to him, the affected person is a 30-year-old Nigerian lady, who returned from the United Kingdom on March 13.

He assured that all passengers and others who may have come in contact with her will be traced.

Abayomi further intimated that the woman is a member of a Non- Governmental Organization community, and that she is now in isolation and receiving care at the Mainland Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba.

“Contact tracing of all passengers and all those who may have come in contact with this latest case has commenced,” the Commissioner twitted.

This development comes days after the Lagos State government confirmed that the second suspected case of COVID-19 was now free of the virus.

With this development, the state now has two cases of confirmed Coronavirus including the index case – the Italian businessman who imported the virus into the country and one of his close contacts.
