Nigeria records first death from Coronavirus in Abuja

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Monday confirmed the first death from the Coronavirus disease in Nigeria.

The NCDC disclosed this via its Twitter handle, @NCDCgov, saying the deceased was a 67-year-old United Kingdom returnee.

It said: “The first #COVID19 death in Nigeria has been recorded. The case was a 67-year-old male who returned home following medical treatment in the United Kingdom.

“He had underlying medical conditions- multiple myeloma and diabetes and was undergoing chemotherapy.”

The Centre had on Monday morning confirmed five fresh cases of COVID-19 in Abuja, Lagos and Edo States.

The fresh discoveries bring to 35 the number of confirmed Coronavirus cases in the country.
