NJC concludes investigation on Onnoghen, Tanko, sends report to Buhari

The National Judicial Council (NJC) has concluded its investigation into allegations against the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, and Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Mohammed.

The NJC heard different petitions on the two justices of the Supreme Court.

The judicial body disclosed that it is abstaining from considering the allegations relating to assets declaration levelled against Justice Onnoghen, on the grounds that they are subjudice.

Recall that there is an ongoing case on alleged false/non-declaration of assets against Onnoghen at the Code of Code Tribunal (CCT).

Having reached a decision on the petitions written by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and others, the NJC transmitted its findings and recommendations to President Muhammadu Buhari for appropriate action.
