JUST IN: Pastor Bakare formally declares to contest for presidency in 2023

Pastor Tunde Bakare, the Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, on Monday officially declared his intention to contest for the seat of Nigeria’s president in 2023.

Bakare at the event, outlined his four-point agenda — Peace, Progress, Prosperity and Possibility — towards ensuring economic transformation during his formal declaration speech in Abuja.

The cleric, running under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) alluded to the creation of a state policing system via the subregions in order to tackle the scourge of terrorism and banditry.

“On security, I must commend the Army, Police, and others who lay their lives daily to protect the people and we are going to restore the glory of the agencies by rebuilding the architecture.

“The creation of a sub-policing and interstate policing system coupled with drone surveillance across the borders is necessary in order to prevent threats to national security. With these reforms, there will be highly skilled police and armed forces with respect for human rights,” Bakare noted.
