Plane carrying Nigerian returnees from UAE makes u-turn as pregnant woman goes into labour

A chartered plane conveying Nigerian returnees from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has reportedly made a u-turn as a pregnant woman went into labour.

The incident was disclosed by the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa.

The flight earlier scheduled to land at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday is now expected to land at 7:00 p.m.

The Emirates Airlines flight is scheduled to evacuate the first batch of 265 Nigerians from the UAE and will arrive at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.

A statement issued in Abuja by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman, Ferdinand Nwonye, said arrangements for hotel accommodation in Lagos and Abuja have been made for the returnees.

Nwonye said the hotels have been inspected by the Port Health Services, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Infection Prevention and Control (IPC).
