CAN, PFN probe rape allegations against COZA Pastor

The Police has invited the senior pastor and founder of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) for questioning over allegations of rape that have been made against him.

He was interrogated at Police Force CID Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.

Fatoyinbo was reportedly invited over rape allegations leveled against him by Busola, wife of R&B singer, Timi Dakolo.

The presence of Pastor Fatoyinbo in the custody of the police was confirmed by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba who noted that investigation of the clergy was proof that the police has not swept the matter under the carpet as believed in some quarters.

According to him, the police have done a whole lot of background investigations and spoken to a whole lot of people before inviting Fatoyinbo last for questioning as a deliberate procedure.

Mba further stated that the police has gotten statements from several witnesses to build a solid case before inviting Pastor Fatoyinbo, but noted that more witnesses may be invited later, depending on how investigations go.

The development comes after the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) informed that Pastor Fatoyinbo refused to honour invitations, despite efforts by the committee members and leadership of the Christian body to reach out to him to appear before it over the rape allegations.

However, Pastor Fatoyinbo later stated why he failed to honour a supposed invitation by the committee set up by the PFN.

Pastor Fatoyinbo in a statement issued last Friday said there was never any written invitation from the panel, or the PFN leadership issued to him, aside a telephone call he received where he made it clear that he could not come due to legal advice.
