Presidential spokesman, Ngelale, steps down, cites family health crisis
Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, has resigned from his position with immediate effect.
The Presidency announced Ngelale’s departure in a statement on Saturday, citing personal and family health reasons.
According to the statement, Ngelale submitted a memo to Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila on Friday, informing him of his decision to take an indefinite leave of absence. Ngelale has also stepped down as Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen.
The former presidential aide explained that his decision was necessitated by a “vexatious medical situation” affecting his immediate family, which has worsened in recent days.

Ngelale stated, “I fully appreciate that the ship of state waits for no man, but this agonizing decision was taken after significant consultations with my family over the past several days.”
Ngelale expressed his commitment to returning to national service when circumstances permit, saying, “I look forward to returning to full-time national service when time, healing, and fate permit.”
He respectfully requested privacy for his family during this challenging period.
The sudden departure of Ngelale, a key figure in the President’s communication team, raises questions about the potential impact on the administration’s media strategy. However, the Presidency has not yet announced a replacement or interim arrangements.
