‘Kabila must go’ protesters storm streets of Congo

Incoming reports suggest that there are wild protests on-going in the streets of Congo with demonstrators calling for the resignation of incumbent President Joseph Kabila.

Reports say protests are mounting with the opposition fearing that Kabila is planning to stay in power longer than his mandate which ends this December.

Protesters in the Ngaba and Yolo neighbourhoods blocked roads with burning tyres and security forces fired shots in the Congolese capital on Monday as opposition activists prepared to march to press Kabila to step down, witnesses said.
