The two American and two Canadian businessmen who were ambushed and abducted along the Kwoi-Jere road around 7pm on Tuesday while  on their way from Kafanchan, Kaduna State, to Abuja, have been freed.

The two police escort attached to them had been killed during an exchange of gunfire with the assailants.

Agyole Abeh, Kaduna State Police Commissioner, who confirmed the release of the foreign nationals on Saturday, said they were rescued by the police at Jere in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna.

Abeh said the businessmen were rescued inside the bush at about 6am on Saturday following a massive manhunt for their abductors by men of the Kaduna police command and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) special anti-kidnapping squad.
