KADUNA: Bandits strike Birnin Gwari again, kill 10

Armed bandits have once again struck in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing at least 10 people in five villages.

The bandits were said to have struck around 5pm on Tuesday, shooting and burning down houses in the process.

The incident happened less than three days after Tukur Buratai, chief of army staff, gave his men a three-week ultimatum to “flush out” bandits from the area.

In a statement, Birnin Gwari Vanguard for security and good governance, said the residents of the five villages affected in the latest attack were in dire need of aid.

The attack was said to have lasted for three hours.

“The bandits burnt houses and grains and food stuff of the affected villages,” the statement read.

“The affected villages need of aid, such as food, shelter and clothes.”

The group commended the federal government and security agencies for steps taken to address the security challenges in the area and called for more deployment of troops and special police.
