The Kaduna State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has kicked against the ruling of the Governorship Election Tribunal sitting in Kaduna State.

The tribunal had declared the state governor, Nasir el-Rufai, as winner of the March 9 governorship election in the state.

In his comments while speaking with newsmen in Kaduna on Tuesday, the state chapter Chairman of the PDP,, Felix Hassan Hyet, said that it was unfortunate for the tribunal to agree that elections were conducted in all local government areas of the state including Birnin Gwari and Giwa that were not accessible during the election due to insecurity

According to Hayet, the PDP will officially “make its position known after a meeting with their team of lawyers and the party’s governorship candidate.”

He also also appealed to party members to “remain calm and law abiding and wait for the party position soon.”

Recall that PDP’s governorship candidate Isa Ashiru had filed a petition contesting El’ Rufai’s victory citing irregularities at the polls but the tribunal judge, Justice Ibrahim Bako, struck out the petition over lack of evidence.
