Harry Kane scored a hat-trick in Tottenham’s 3-0 win against Apoel Nicosia on matchday 2 of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.

The English striker also scored twice in their opening win over Borussia Dortmund two weeks ago and has taken his tally to five this season.

Kane opened the scoring in the 39th minute, slotting into the bottom-left corner from Toby Alderweireld’s pass.

He then calmly stroked in Moussa Sissoko’s cross from the edge of the penalty area in the 62nd minute to double the lead.

He completed his hat-trick only five minutes later with a header to keep Spurs with a 100% start to the competition.

In the group’s other game, Real madrid defeated Borussia Dortmund 3-1 to stay top of the group.

Real will host Tottenham on matchday 3, and manager Mauricio Pochettino expects his side to prove themselves when they face the Spanish champions at the Bernabeu.

“It is a big challenge to see if we can compete at this type of level and to be very motivated against the best team in the world. We need to show to ourselves that we can compete at that level”, he said.
