KANO: Apprehension as Electoral materials yet to leave RAC centres

There is palpable apprehension in Kano State with reports confirming that sensitive materials required for the governorship and State Assembly polls were yet to leave for distribution areas.

Reports say as at 7:41am, sensitive materials for areas in Fagge and Nasarawa Local Goverment Areas of Kano State, stacked in boxes were waiting to be distributed as Corps members were seen collecting ballot boxes, papers and INEC branded plastic tables.

Recall during the last presidential and National Assembly polls that a good number of eligible voters at Magwan polling centre within the Giginyu Ward in the Nasarawa local government area of Kano State were delayed in casting their votes due to the lateness in the arrival of election materials.

Many voters arrived at the polling centres as early as 7:00 a.m while security personnel trooped in moments later but INEC officials failed to show up with the election materials.

Similarly, security agents and voters were seen apprehensively awaiting the arrival of materials and INEC officials at Tarauni Asibiti polling centre.

Many expressed disappointment with the late arrival of materials and officials at the polling units, and they urged INEC to address the challenge.‎
