RAMADAN: Adults eating in public to be arrested in Kano

All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ignore calls by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to cancel the ongoing supplementary election in the state.

The opposition PDP had earlier called on INEC to cancel the supplementary governorship election in the state over alleged irregularities.

But in its response, the state APC chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, said there were no reasons for the cancellation of the rerun poll.

While he claimed that allegations of electoral irregularities raised by the PDP is not true, he called on INEC to “ensure conclusion of the election.”

He said, “The call by the PDP for cancellation of election was uncalled-for because the election is still ongoing.

“PDP should wait for the final result of the poll and then take legal action if not satisfied with it. That is what the law provided.

“I think PDP failed to mobilise its people that’s all,” he said.

PDP had also alleged that thugs allegedly deployed by APC from Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna and Kebbi states were casting votes for APC unhindered, but Abbas denied the claim, saying that the population in the affected areas in Kano was more than enough to partake in any election.

He appealed to security personnel to ensure safety of lives and property during and after the election.
