Kano House of Assembly may sue ex-Commissioner over N150m bribery allegation

The Kano State House of Assembly has threatened to sue former Commissioner for Special Duties, Gen. Idris Dambazau, over his allegation that each member received N150 million from the State Government.

Dambazau served the state as commissioner during Gov. Rabiu Kwankwaso’s administration.

The Majority Leader of the Assembly, Alhaji Abdullahi Atta, had raised a motion of urgent importance on the allegation on Monday.

He said the statement, which was made to the media, was capable of tarnishing the image of the Assembly as well as that of the executive.

He said, “We never expected such allegation from a responsible person like the retired soldier who is regarded as an elderly man in the state.

“The allegation was only against the 33 of us who are in support of the leadership of Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje out of the 40 members”, he said.

Atta, who represents Fagge constituency, said Dambazau had one week to prove his allegation or withdraw it through the media, failing which he should be ready to face court summons.
