Kano investigates Monkey pox case, sends blood sample to Dakar

The Kano State Commissioner for Health, Dr Ibrahim Kabiru Ketso has revealed that the blood sample of the suspected Monkey pox patient in the state has been sent to Abuja where it will be taken o Dakar, Senegal for verification.

Dr Ketso who noted that the result of the test will be returned in two of three weeks time also revealed during a press conference in the state that the patient had contacts with 60 people in his community before he was isolated.

The Commissioner explained that the suspected patient had been quarantined in a government hospital at Yar Gaya in Dawaki Kudu Local Government Area, while also calling on the need for caution in coming to any conclusion even as he added that, the history of the suspected case was more in favour of chicken pox than monkey pox.

Two days ago, six new cases of the monkeypox virus were confirmed including a first case in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

The Minister of State for Health, Osagie Ehanire, made this disclosure in Abuja on Friday.

Ehanire said apart from Abuja, there were two new cases of the disease in Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom states and one in Enugu.

With the new additions, the total number of confirmed monkeypox cases is now nine.

    Silly talk, shame on our so called medical practitioners in Nigeria, Senegal is now advanced medically than Nigeria, chai, there is god indeed.

      Keep shut Mr man, no country is totally balanced in their medical fields, even Cuba president do go to Germany for medical check up, even in the US, they still refer some medical cases to other countries, so no big deal in this.

        Cover your face with shame, your mumu no get level, blood sample or test is what they can’t do here in Nigeria and you are bringing irrelevant comparison, shame to Nigeria government.
