A middle age man has been sentenced to five strokes of cane by a mobile court in Kano for violating the COVID-19 lockdown order in place in the state.

The court, sitting at Gwale local government, headed by Magistrate Salisu Idris found the convict guilty of violating the lockdown order and sentenced him accordingly.

The convict served the sentence on the spot.

Similarly, the court convicted 14 persons for roaming without satisfactory explanation.

The convicts were ordered to pay fines and render community service as punishment for violating the lockdown order.
