NDLEA raises alarm over combination of illicit drugs

Over 1,637 kilogrammes of illicit drugs have been seized and 105 suspects have been arrested by the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, Kano State Command.

While disclosing this to journalists on Thursday, Dr Ibrahim Abdul, NDLEA State Commander of Narcotics, revealed that 870 kilogrammes of cannabis sativa, 715 kilogrammes of psychotropic substance, 400 grammes of cocaine, 500 kilogrammes of Khat and 120 kilgrammes of heroine were confiscated while they were being moved to countries like Yemen and Ghana.

He revealed that some politicians were also arrested for authorizing their parties to be used as agents for drug peddling.

Some of the interrogated suspects have expressed remorse over their actions, while others have defended them, adding that the drugs were not prohibited in other African countries.
