Kanu not in custody, very likely ‘in hiding’- Lai
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, Tuesday disclosed that the leader of the now-proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) was likely in hiding, and not in government custody as speculated by some.
Speaking on the proscription of IPOB and its being officially designated a terror group, the minster provided justification, saying the group had “crossed a line”.
On Kanu’s whereabouts, Mohammed stated that he suspected he was “in hiding”, adding, “He’s not being held by government at all”.
Mohammed reportedly made these comments in an interview with an international news agency.
Speculations have been rife over the whereabouts of Kanu since the army’s clash with IPOB and reported forced entry into his family house in Umuahia, the capital of Abia State.
His lawyer had even alleged that he might have been abducted or killed by the federal government.

Mohammed also spoke on Buhari’s health and waded into the debate of whether or not he would be contesting the 2019 presidential election.
The minister dismissed criticisms of the president on lack of transparency over his health, stating that, “It’s not strange at all for a sitting president to be ill and it’s not strange either for the state to take care of his medical bill.
“I think there’s so much speculation as to what he’s been treated for.
“I think we would rather respect his privacy. If Mr President feels like telling the world his ailment, so be it. I don’t think he’s under an obligation to tell anyone”.
On the 2019 election, Mohammed said, “If he’s going to run that’s left to him but right now, his major preoccupation is delivering on all his electoral promises,” he said.

Exactly! Lai should not feed us with the story that he had gone into hiding, we need to see him alive or dead before we can be rest assured there will be no more trouble from IPOB

This means Mr Lai isn’t sure where the leader of terror group IPOB is? He’d rather be joking. He can’t go into hiding without being sighted by the government officials.

It’s somehow confusing but soon or soonest, he will be arrested again

The Army should look for him if he had truly gone into hiding, he’s a notorious criminal who should not be tolerated in Nigeria, he should be caught and jailed, perhaps killed.

You’re a man of little knowledge, Kanu is invisible, nobody can get to him until he decides to show himself up. If the army tries anything funny, they will fail

Whereever Kanu is, shouldn’t be our business, he is gone for good.

It’s a sad day when the minister of information begins to dabble in speculations @ “likely in hiding”. Lai has brought so much irreverence to an office that has been graced a long line of respected gentlemen and lady. The man failed in transiting from APC spokesman to Nigeria’s Minister of Information. A shame, really.
