Tasi- u Maigarin has been elected new Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly.
Maigarin emergence came when 32 out of the 34 members of the House, who were at the plenary on Monday, unanimously chose him to be their new Speaker.
Recall that the House has been running without a Speaker since the former Speaker, Abubakar Kusada, contested and won a by-election to the House of Representatives for Kusada/kankia/Ngawa Federal Constituency last month.
The motion to have Maigarin, who is from Zango Local Government Area of the state and represents the Zango Constituency, was moved by Ibrahim Dikko from Matazu Constituency and seconded by Sani Lawan from Baure Constituency.
Consequently, the new Speaker was sworn in by the House Clerk, Musa Bakore.
