For daring to misappropriate their constituency allowances as approved by the state’s governor, 12 members out of 24 of the Kebbi State House of Assembly have impeached the speaker and his deputy.

They have also elected Aminu Musa Habib Jega and Hon. Garba Bena as Speaker and deputy Speaker respectively.

The members at a sitting on Tuesday presided over by member Abubakar Sabo who served as temporary speaker, accused the impeached speaker (Hassan Shalla) of breach of trust and misappropriating constituency allowances approved by the governor for the 24 House members.

The motion for the impeachment was moved by Hon. Aminu Musa Gumbi from Yauri constituency and seconded by Hon. Aliyu Mohammed Mutubare.
