Kemi Olunloyo cries out from prison: Court registrar wants me to remain jailed indefinitely

Some weeks after begging Nigerians through her minder on social media to raise money for her release from the Port Harcourt prison, controversial media personality Kemi Olunloyo is now accusing the chief registrar attached to the Port Harcourt Division of the Federal High Court of sitting on her case.

Kemi who had who revealed last week that her lawyers had satisfied all bail requirements set by H.I.O. Shamah, a federal judge who granted her bail on April 11, is alleging that the chief registrar is stalling her case in order to keep her perpetually behind bars.

However, the Deputy Chief Registrar, Maimunat Folami, has denied such claims saying that her office had cooperated fully with Kemi’s counsel to ensure proper vetting of her bail documents.

“We have done everything that we’re supposed to do,” Ms. Folami said. “This allegation is very strange.”

Continuing, she added that; “I have to do all the works of ensuring that all the documents are put in place. Even if the documents are put in place, we still have to conduct certain investigations, like verifying the addresses of the sureties to be sure they are who they say they are.”

Kemi was arrested and jailed after publishing an article on her blog accusing General Overseer of Salvation Ministries Pastor David Ibiyeomie of infidelity.

The journalist was picked up after Pastor Ibiyeomie petitioned the police claiming that she (Kemi) criminally defamed him by posting an article on her blog alleging he is an adulterer, a claim he said defamed his character.
