RIVERS: Notorious kidnapper, gang declared wanted

The kidnapped traditional ruler of Obom Obom-Agbogugu, Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, Igwe Sunday Orji and his wife, were on Wednesday released.

The monarch and his wife were kidnapped on Sunday at about 5pm at Ogbaku along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway while returning from a Thanksgiving Mass held at Owelli Agwu.

The kidnappers later contacted the family of the traditional ruler on Monday, demanding for a N50 million ransom for the royal couple to regain their freedom.

The release of the monarch and his wife was confirmed by the spokesman of the Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu.

Though it is yet to be known if ransom was paid for the release of the monarch and his wife, Amaraizu, confirmed that no arrest has been made, adding that police operatives were still trailing the kidnappers and would be arrested.
