Kidnapped Enugu Permanent Secretary freed, claims no ransom paid

The kidnapped Permanent Secretary of the Enugu State Ministry of Lands and Urban Development, Mr. Augustine Udeh, has been released.

Mr. Udeh was abducted by unknown gunmen on Sunday evening between Isu-Awaa and the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) Ituku-Ozalla, along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway.

Udeh confirmed his release when he spoke to reporters on the phone, adding that he is now with his family and that he is hale and hearty.

Udeh, who thanked God for his rescue, disclosed that no ransom was paid for his release.

He also thanked Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State for his swift interventions, including the effective security measures his administration has put in place, which he said led to his release.

Continuing, the permanent secretary appreciated the security agencies in the state for their efforts and the civil servants for their prayers and support.
