Kidnapped Radio Nigeria staff regains freedom

The kidnapped radio presenter working with Radio Nigeria, Pacesetter FM, Umuahia, Abia State, Miss Chinenye Iwuoha, has been released by her abductors.

It would be recalled that unknown Gunmen had intercepted the Radio Presenter who was in the company of three other staff as they were going home from work.

According to reports, the gunmen who intercepted the Hillux the Journalists were traveling in at Amakama Estate shot the driver in the stomach and whisked Ms Iwuoha away in their Toyota Sienna car.

The Media Rights Agenda and International Press Centre had called on the Federal Government and security agencies to ensure the speedy release of Miss Iwuoha in a statement on Wednesday.

The news of her release however threw the staff of the station into wild jubilation on Thursday morning.

It was however not clear if any ransom was paid before she was released, as her abductors had demanded for N20 million before her released.

Confirming Miss Iwuoha’s release, the State Commissioner of Police, Janet Agbede said that the kidnappers released her unconditionally as police mounted heavy pressure on them.
