Kidnapped Turkish expatriates rescued in Kwara

TARABA KILLING: IGP orders special security attention for clergies, places of worship

The Kwara State Police Command has rescued four Turkish expatriates that were kidnapped six days ago by Gunmen my n Gbale, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The victims we’re rescued on Friday evening by a police team that stormed the hide out of the kidnappers at Gbugbu community in the state.

The state Police Commissioner, Kayode Egbetokun, who addressed newsmen at the police headquarters in Ilorin, said the police had been on the trail of the kidnappers since the incident was reported.

According to him, a combined team of the IGP Tactical Squad, the anti-robbery team as well as members of the Miyyeti Allah and the vigilance group in the area had intensified their search for the expatriates.

Egbetokun further noted that the team had during the week arrested one of the kidnappers with one AK47 riffle at Gbugbu village, adding the that within the period, three others, including the contact person who was making efforts to collect the N100million ransom demanded from the company of the expatriates, were also arrested.

The police boss further explained that after intense pressure, the remaining kidnappers abandoned the expatriates and ran away, adding that all the four kidnapped expatriates were rescued hale and hearty without paying any ransom.

Those rescued were Yasin Colak (33), Senerapal (40), Ergun Yurdakul (35) and Seyit Keklik (25).
