KOGI: 10 farmers hacked to death by suspected herdsmen

Amid tension of accusations of inciting attacks, Miyetti Allah claims Plateau youths beat herdsman to coma, stole 350 cows

Tragedy struck at Omala in Kigi East and Omi in Yagba West local council, Kogi State when suspected herdsmen invaded the community and killed no less than 10 farmers.

Reports say the herdsmen invaded a farmland in the community with their cattle numbering up to 30 and fed the livestock with produce from the farm and were later confronted by the farm owner and his family.

The herdsmen who felt infuriated by their guts attacked and chased the farm owners to their village where 10 people were reportedly killed.

Eyewitnesses also revealed that after claiming the lives of 10 villagers in the attack, the herdsmen went back to the farm and destroyed it.

However, the state police command claimed that only two persons were killed by the herdsmen.

William Aya, the Police Public Relations Officer who confirmed the incident said; “I can confirm that (only) two people were killed by unknown gunmen.”

Aya further noted that Ali Janga, the state Commissioner of Police had ordered “full investigations” into the killings.
