Three years after, DSS gets new spokesman

A suspected financier and major armourer of a dreaded kidnap gang in Kogi State identified simply as Basalube has reportedly been arrested by men of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Reports say the suspect, Lawal Mohammed was arrested alongside two other members of his gang, Mohammed Tukur and Abubakar Ibrahim during a joint operation by the DSS and the military.

According to a statement issued by the Mr Tony Opuiyo, an operative of the DSS, the suspect was arrested on March 23, at Japama in Obajana Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The statement also revealed that the suspect, Lawal was identified as the Chief surveillance officer of the gang who coordinated the gang’s operation across Rivers, Edo, Delta, Kebbi, Zamfara, Kaduna, Kogi and the Federal Capital Territory.

The DSS in the statement also revealed that three cell phones and 25 bottles of psychotropic inducers were recovered from the suspects when they were arrested.
