Kogi judge kidnapped, orderly killed

Tragedy struck again in Kogi State, as unknown gunmen kidnapped a judge of the state Customary Court of Appeal, Mr. Isaq Momoh Usman, killing his police orderly.

The Incident occurred along the Itakpe-Kuroko Road on Sunday evening while the judge was returning to Lokoja from his country home.

According to reports, the Judge travelled to his country home at the weekend and was returning to Lokoja when the gunmen stopped his car along the Okene-Itakpe bypass in Okehi Local Government Area of the state.

Sources said the Kidnappers shot the police orderly killing him on the spot when he tried to stop them from taking the judge, while his service pistol was taken away by the gunmen.

His driver, who was also reportedly shot several times, is said to be receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in Lokoja, the state capital.

The information Officer of the Kogi State Ministry Justice, Mr. Saqeeb Saeed, confirmed the incident.

It would be recalled that the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, had deployed a detachment of Special Squad of SARS from Abuja and a helicopter in Lokoja to combat the menace of the kidnappers in the state.

However, the kidnappers resumed their activities immediately the special squad returned to base.
