A possible second screening of local government workers by the Kogi State government has been rejected in strong terms by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Spokesman of the state chapter of the party, Bode Ogunmola, in a statement signed on Monday lamented that “now that the state government has received N30.8 billion bailout out funds, it has thought out plans to again inflict pain on the LG workers through another round of screening”.

Ogunmola in the statement also alleged that the hiring of a consultant to screen local government workers, again, is another way of siphoning the state funds.

“The PDP also notes that the life of workers will be put in danger by traveling up and down. Many workers have died in the past because of this irrelevant screening.

“We therefore cautioned against any form of hardship to be inflicted on Kogi citizens. Enough is enough of the hardship the Gov. Bello led administration has caused the people,” the statement added.
