Police dismiss 3 officers who raided Clark’s home, but Nigerians ask for more

Sergeant Akpa James, attached to the Special Protection Unit, Zone 8, Lokoja, has been booted out of the Police Force after he allegedly killed a motorist for disobeying orders.

Reports say James committed the crime in the Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State when he killed Ohimi Ojima during an argument with security men in the Ajaokuta Steel Company.

According to a statement by ASP William Aya, the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, the victim refused an order to make a U-turn to the direction of the road where he was coming from as the road was the only accessible road to Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited causing an arguement which led to his death.

The PPRO said; “The victim ignored the order and went to the extent of attempting to disarm the sergeant; he was fatally injured in the process.
“He was rushed to ASCL Hospital, Ajaokuta, for medical treatment, but he gave up the ghost.

“The sergeant was subsequently arrested, detained, tried in an orderly room trial and dismissed from the Force. He will be charged to court after investigation is concluded.”

Aya also quashed rumours that the deceased, Ojima was the younger sibling of the Governor of Kogi State.

“The command wishes to state categorically that the sergeant is attached to the Special Protection Unit, Zone 8, Lokoja and not Police Mobile Force (PMF).

“Also, the report that the deceased was a younger brother of the governor of Kogi State is false in its entirety. The victim was from the Ibaji Local Government Area of Kogi State.

“The command urges members of the public to always confirm the true nature of incidents before sending such to the social media or any other platform so as not to mislead the people of the state.”
