MINIMUM WAGE: Labour fumes over FG’s denial, insists on N30,000 or strike

The Nigeria Labour Congress said it rejects the Tuesday adoption of the N27,000 national minimum wage by the council of states.

The Secretary-General of the union, Dr. Peter Ozo-Eson, gave the position in Abuja hours after the news broke out.

He said, “It is abysmal of government to be delaying the submission of an Executive Bill to the National Assembly and by wrongfully adopting N27,000 through the council of states,” he said.

Ozo-Eson explained that a National Economic Council of the union would be conveyed on Friday, while the government should be prepared for actions taken by the workers.

“This is because workers should not be held responsible for any development after its NEC meeting on Friday,’’ he said.
