Lafarge, FBN Holdings top Ripples Nigeria Stock Watchlist

The Nigerian bourse demonstrated signs of recovery last week with the market recording three days of gain in a row out of the four trading sessions.

We have selected a group of stocks you should watch out for this week on the basis of how the market fared last week.

LAFARGE AFRICA PLC

Lafarge tops our list this week on the basis of its dividend proposal last week following the declaration its impressive Full Year 2019 results, which saw earnings rise by 91.7% to N15.518 billion.

The board during the week announced a proposal of N1 per share dividend subject to shareholders’ endorsement.

The qualification date has been fixed for 30th April while the payment date is 26th May.

Similarly, Lafarge appears on the list by virtue of being the stock with the highest gain on the Exchange last week.

It opened at N8.95 and closed at N12.65, adding 41.34%. Its Earnings Per Share (EPS) stands at N0.54 while its Price to Earnings (PE) ratio is 23.59%.

FBN HOLDINGS PLC

FBN Holdings makes our list on the account of the board’s declaration of a N0.38 per share dividend last week for FY2019.

The lender reported a 23.5% leap in earnings for the financial year 2019, which brought its full year profit to N73.665 billion.

Its EPS is N1.74 while its PE ratio is 2.70 according to Bloomberg.

IKEJA HOTEL PLC

Ikeja Hotel features on our list on the account of its proposed dividend of N0.02 per share for FY2019.

The qualification date is 1st July while dividend payment is timed to happen on 7th August.

Its EPS is N0.26 while its PE ratio stands at 3.74.

Simply Wall Street estimates that the stock is trading above its fair value which it puts at N0.15.

ARDOVA PLC

Ardova makes our list on the account of being the highest price loser last week. Opening at N13.80, the stock closed at N11.25, depreciating by 18.48%.
