LAGESC commences probe on officers exposed by Ripples Nigeria investigative report

The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) said it has commenced an “independent investigation” against its officers exposed by an investigative report by Ripples Nigeria.

The report had shown the agency’s officials extorting and maltreating residents who fail to use the pedestrian bridges, where they are located across the state.

A two-part undercover report by this platform, exposed officers of the agency who extorted and maltreated the reporter, who deliberately used himself as a test subject, for failing to use the bridges.

The extortion was contrary to the laws guiding the enforcement of pedestrian bridge violations.

LAGESC Public Affairs Officer, Kehinde Adebayo, who called the reporter on the phone said the agency has commenced investigation on the matter.

“I want to get to the root of the matter. I will need your support for us to do an independent investigation of the matter. The agency will do its own findings on the matter. We are currently carrying out own independent investigation,” he said.
