Lagos businessman Asiwaju commits suicide over rape allegations

Days after vehemently denying rape allegations levelled against him, a Lagos businessman Mike Asiwaju popularly known as Mike Cash has taken his own life according to reports.

The founder of Asiwaju Royal Furniture in Ojo, Lagos, was found lifeless in his hotel room around 12am on January 13, 2019, after he took a poisonous substance suspected to be Sniper.

Close watchers say the businessman and father of one who has a huge followership on social media may have taken his life immediately after sharing a suicide note on his Twitter page.

Asiwaju had expressed his intention to take his own life via his Twitter handle, @Asiwaju_limited, a day after he checked into the hotel.

“Goodbye I’ll die soon. (I) am gone,” he tweeted at 7.35pm on Saturday, January 12.

Before his death, Asiwaju had alleged that his former business partner, one Blessing, was behind the blackmail of several allegations of rape levelled against him.

Two women on social media had accused Asiwaju of raping them, but the now late businessman claimed they were actually his girlfriends who he met on social media platforms.

Asiwaju also went ahead to post pictures of two his two girlfriends claiming they had fun together sometime in 2017 at a club, where he spent N500,000.

Asiwaju stated his own side of the story when he wrote thus days before taking his life; “I (am) here, I’ll need to say my own side of the story. I know my former business partner sponsored this blackmail to destroy me cos (because) she’s contesting on the platform of All Progressives Congress.

“You all claimed I raped you? We met on the social media, I took you to a club, I spent N500,000 popping Champaign cos (because) of you and we had sex when am (sic) high and you call it rape? In 2017, you didn’t report to the police. In 2018, you didn’t report to the police. In 2019, you decided to blackmail me.

“This two people (sic) and Blessing should be held responsible if anything happens to me. You came to visit me cos (because) you know I have money. We went to a club; I bought drinks worth half a million naira; we had sex inside my car you claimed I raped you just to tarnish my image”.

A glance at Asiwaju’s twitter handle revealed a number of x-rated video clips and pictures of girls he claimed he had sex with.
