Lagos sends message of hope to residents, says COVID-19 under control

The Lagos State government led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has confirmed that it had recorded another death arising from a patient who contracted the deadly COVID-19 virus.

Prof. Akin Abayomi, the State Commissioner for Health made the revelation via his Twitter handle on Sunday where he revealed that the deceased is an 83-year-old woman with underlying health issues.

He posted on Twitter; “Lagos recorded 1 death, bringing the total number of #COVID19 related deaths in Lagos to 14.

“The deceased is a female, aged 83 with underlying health issues.

“Let’s observe #SocialDistancing and #StayHome to stop the transmission of #COVID19 infection #ForAGreaterLagos.”

This development comes after the Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi has imposed a daily curfew on the state starting from 7pm to 7am in the morning.

Umahi, who made the pronouncement in a broadcast on Saturday, also directed security agencies and the anti-coronavirus taskforce to arrest anybody found outside his or her residence during this period.
