A total number of a 100 cultist have been paraded by men of the Lagos State Police Command after they were all arrested by cops attached to the Lagos state police Special Anti-Cultism Unit following a tip-off.

Reports say police got information that the cultists had invaded Ladipo area of the state and were aggressively forcing others to join their group which led to a mass raid by men of the Special Anti-Cultism Unit.

Dangerous weapons such as two locally made pistols, cut to size 4 UTC Axe, charms, 50 extended, live ammunition, including snatched phones were found in their possession.

Reports say one of those nabbed by cops was the gang leader identified as Chigozie Chukwuebere, 22, (initiated into Viking cult in Anambra State but fled to Lagos when police were on his heels) and his second in command Adekunle Babatunde, 24.

According to Chigozie: “A wealthy business man in Ladipo market invited me to Lagos to hustle and make a living but he did not know that I am a cultist. My job is recruiting young boys into the Viking cult. We also steal in the market.
“There are many cults in Ladipo market and we belong to rival cults, so we can get our way and not be intimidated.”

The suspects according to Acting Commissioner of Police Edgal Imohimi have all been charged to court over allegations bordering on illegal gathering, malicious damages and unlawful possession of weapons.

Imohimi also added that the command under his leadership will not allow cultism to fester while he also assured residents during rounds of town hall meetings of their safety.

The Acting CP said: “Cultism has become a menace in the state and that is the reason for the special Anti-Cultism Unit as we are rooting them out from our neighbourhoods. It is the collective responsibility of everyone and I assure everyone that the community partnership we have embraced as our strategy will boost the confidence of members of the public to work with police in stopping the menace of cultism.”

Don’t bro too quick to judge! You don’t know the new leaf the acting commissioner of police will turn, it may be a bad one. You don’t have to totally condemn Fatai

If their cult is well established, they will not air the case and all of them will be set free. However, if they had no strong foundation, all of them will go to prison, no doubt.

They should all be thrown to prison, we don’t need them anymore in Lagos. Kudos to the police for fishing them out.
