LAGOS LOCKDOWN: Police officer caught receiving bribe for seized vehicles arrested (see video)

The Lagos State Police Command has announced the arrest of one of its officers, Taloju Martins for extorting N40,000 from a Lagos resident.

Martins was caught on Friday in a video that had gone viral on Twitter, counting the extorted money from a resident who claimed he was stopped while on his way to buy food stuff and fuel for his family.

According to the victim, his car was driven to the Ago Police Station where he was extorted.

The video, showing the officer’s face clearly, was widely shared, with an appeal to the state police command to act on the matter.

The Lagos State Police Command however announced his arrest on Twitter, adding that he would be made to face an orderly room trial.

“The Police Officer from Ago Division in the trending video has been identified and arrested. He will be subjected to internal disciplinary proceedings known as Orderly room trial. #SayNOtoImpunity #BeSafe”, the command tweeted.
