In from Timothy Enietan-Matthews (Nation’s capital) . . .

Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde has been relieved of his position as the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and has been replaced by Ibrahim Magu, of the Economic and Governance unit of the agency.

Lamorde, who has been in charge of the anti-graft agency since 2011, has some allegations of corrupt practices hanging around him, with an Abuja based activist accusing him of not being able to account for over a trillion Naira believed to be monies and worth of properties seized from corrupt individuals.

Magu is reputed to be a no-nonsense investigator who has been with the commission from inception. He was however removed alongside others when Farida Waziri was appointed chairman of the agency in 2008.
