Darwin Nunez put up a superfine performance as he helped Liverpool clinch a late victory over Brentford on Saturday afternoon.

Nunez bagged a brace – both goals coming in added time – as Liverpool return to winning ways with a 2-0 victory, having played a draw in their last three outings.

Nunez grabbed the opener in the 91st minute with a simple finish, and the Uruguay forward scored again two minutes later, rounding off a counter-attack as Brentford were caught short in defence.

With the win, the Arne Slot side extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to seven points.

Elsewhere, Super Eagles forward Alex Iwobi was substituted after the break at the King Power Stadium as Fulham beat Leicester City 2-0.

Leicester, who remain 19th in the table, have lost seven of the nine league games that new boss Ruud van Nistelrooy has been in charge for.

In the other Premier League games played, Crystal Palace also defeated West Ham 2-0 in London, while Bournemouth thrashed Newcastle United 4-1 at St James Park.
