LAUTECH ASUU suspends strike

At last, the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso Chapter, yesterday conditionally suspended its a view to resuming the intention to resume academic activities on October 23.

Confirming the decision to New Telegraph on the phone after its Congress held in the institution, its Chairman, Dr. Biodun Olaniran said the union considered the plight of the students, pleas from well-meaning Nigerians as well as sensitive to the demand of the public and decided unanimously to suspend the strike pending approval by the zonal coordinator of the union and final approval by the President of ASUU.

The two owner States had about three weeks ago announced resumption of the school, but the lecturers insisted they were not going to resume work unless their outstanding salaries were paid.

The union had complained of underfunding of the institution as well as shortfall in the grants meant to run the university.
