Udeme Odimi, the lawyer who allegedly stabbed and killed her husband Otike Odibi at their home in Diamond Estate, Sangotedo, Ajah has been remanded in prison.

The detention of the 47-year-old who was arraigned on a one-count charge of murder was effected on the orders of a chief Magistrate’s Court which sat in Yaba on Wednesday.

While ruling on the case, Mrs. Kikelomo Ayeye, the Chief Magistrate said Udeme should be remanded in prison pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.

While in court, the charge read against the accused reads thus; “That you, Udeme Otike Odibi, on or about May 3, 2018, on Diamond Estate, Sangotedo, Lagos, in the Lagos State Magisterial District, did unlawfully kill your husband, one Otike Odibi, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011 as amended. “

Resident of Diamond Estate where the couple lived were left in shock and disbelief after Udeme committed the act.

Reports say Udeme had earlier threatened to stab her husband last Wednesday after they were both involved in a bitter argument with the suspect accusing the victim of having an affair outside wedlock.

Udeme later carried out her threat on Thursday when she severely stabbed her husband to death and cut off his private part which she reportedly placed in his hands after the act.

According to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, the suspect who confessed to the crime had procured a set of new knives which she allegedly used to kill her 50-year-old husband.

Edgal said the suspect sent her sister a message on WhatsApp shortly before the incident and later called her mother on the telephone immediately after committing the alleged crime.
