A group of legal practitioners under the aegis of Coalition of Lawyers Against Corruption in Nigeria (COLAC) want to stage an anti-corruption rally in Abuja on March 25, to show support for the anti-graft war being waged by the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

This was made known by COLAC executive members, led by Barrister Olusegun Bamgbose, during an official visit to the State House, Abuja, where they were received by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina.

The anti-corruption rally, the lawyers said, will feature a minimum of 500 lawyers from different parts of the country, who will go in a motorcade round Abuja, sensitizing the populace on the need for all and sundry to join, and, indeed, own the anti-graft war.

“The war is not for President Muhammadu Buhari alone to fight. It is for all of us,” said Bamgbose, Executive Director of the group. “When corruption is tackled, the power problem will be solved, health care would be provided, there would be quality education, and the quality of lives of Nigerians would improve. It is, therefore, in our own interest to join in the corruption war, and that is what COLAC is out to achieve.”

Adesina, in his response, appreciated the lawyers for partnering with the government in the corruption war, assuring them that they had embarked on a worthy cause, as President Buhari was resolute in his determination to clean up the country, and bequeath a nation that all Nigerians can be proud of.
