'Respect your old age', stop lying, Jonathan’s ex-aide fires back at Buhari’s spokesman

Former aide to immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan, Remo Omokri, said he has confirmed that Leah Sharibu is still alive.

He has therefore challenged President Muhammadu Buhari to free her, vowing never to criticise him and his government again, should he (Buhari) ensure the freedom of Miss Sharibu from Boko Haram captivity.

Omokri said he was reliably told by two journalists who have access to Boko Haram faction that has been keeping Leah in their captivity, that she was still alive.

According to him, the journalists told him that the faction of Boko Haram claiming that the Dapchi school girl had died were not the ones that adopted and kept her in their custody.

Omokri wrote on his verified Twitter handle this Friday, “I’ve been informed by two journalists with access to Boko Haram that the faction claiming Leah is dead is not the one that abducted and holds her. I‘m told Leah is alive. I put aside my differences with Gen @MBuhari and vow not to oppose him going forward if he‘ll #FreeLeahSharibu.”

A female aid worker identified as Grace Taku, had claimed that Leah alongside one Alice had been killed by the insurgents because of the Federal Government’s inability to “do something”.

Grace Taku was among six captured aide workers, a faction of the Boko Haram showed in a trending video that hit the internet on Thursday.

Following the claim that Leah Sharibu had died, Omokri had said in an earlier tweet, “I watched Boko Haram’s video in which one of the abducted aid workers, Grace Taku, alleged things about Leah Sharibu’s state of life. Don’t jump to conclusions. I am trying to verify her claim. A journalist with access to Boko Haram doubts the claim. But I am still investigating.”
