Leaving no stone unturned Saraki meets Jonathan over presidential ambition

In a clear move not to leave any stone unturned, Senate President Bukola Saraki on Wednesday took his consultations further with a visit to former President, Goodluck Jonathan.

Saraki’s Special Assistant on New Media, Olu Onemola, made this public in a terse statement on his Twitter handle, noting that the senator is meeting with the former president in Abuja.

Onemola wrote: “Happening Now: The President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, is meeting with former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in Abuja.”

Saraki is believed to have played a significant role that led to Jonathan losing the 2015 general election to Muhammadu Buhari, and becoming the first Nigerian President to lose election as an incumbent.

Saraki, a former governor of Kwara State, is believed to have played a major role in the mass defection of several National Assembly members, governors and other political heavyweights from the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to now All Progressives Congress (APC).

He recently dumped the APC and returned to the PDP where he is believed to be aspiring to become the next president of Nigeria in 2019.

He has also met with other former heads of state, including Ibrahim Babangida and Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.
