Lebanese security agents arrest 25 over attack on UN Force
The Lebanese security agents have arrested more than 25 people in connection with Friday’s attack on United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) convoy in the country .
At least two peacekeepers, including the mission’s outgoing deputy commander were injured in the attack.
The Lebanese Interior Minister, Ahmad al-Hajjar, confirmed the arrests to journalists on Saturday .
He said while the detained persons may not be directly responsible for the attack, investigations would determine the perpetrators.
Al-Hajjar warned criminal groups any breach of peace would be handled with all seriousness.
The minister said: “The army and security agencies will bolster measures to maintain security and stability.”
