Oyo govt makes detour, admits it demolished Ayefele's radio station, explains rational for action

Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi has stated that despite the ruling of Justice J.O Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court Ibadan, that the local government elections in the state would hold in all the wards as scheduled.

He who stated this at the weekend during a rally at the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat in the state insisted that the election slated to hold on May 12, will be observed as scheduled.

The court had on Wednesday given the order against conduct of the election in some wards created by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), following a petition filed by five persons from Eruwa in Ibarapa East Local Government Area seeking an order of interlocutory injunction restraining the local government election in the state from holding.

Justice Abdulmalik, had held that the election should not be held in the affected wards until the substantive case in the matter is determined. He had then adjourned hearing on the case till May 28.

However, speaking at the rally, Ajimobi maintained that the election would hold in all the wards across the state 33 LGAs, arguing that the court ruling never said that the poll should not hold as already scheduled.
