LIBYA: 100 migrants feared dead after boat sinks off coast in Tripoli

Coastguards in Libya have confirmed that no less than 100 migrants droned after a boat sank off the coat in Tripoli.

An official revealed on Friday that Libyan coastguards picked up 14 survivors from the boat just east of the country’s capital.

However, the exact number of migrants aboard the boat at the time of the incident is not known yet.

The weak nature of the Libyan government and proximity to Italian territory is increasingly making the North African country the preferred option for many refugees despite the dangers involved in crossing the Mediterranean Sea.
