Like Aero, First Nation suspends operations

About twenty four hours after a major airline company in Nigeria, Aero Contractors suspended its operations, another one has followed suit.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on Thursday announced that First Nation Airlines, a domestic carrier, had also suspended its operations.

Aero had announced on Wednesday that it was suspending its scheduled flight services and sent its staff on indefinite leave of absence.

According to Captain Muhtar Usman, the NCAA Director-General, the decision was taken in order to ensure that the airline carried out the required maintenance of its aircraft, and that it was not winding up its operations.

NCAA in the statement, said “The First Nation Airlines on its part is in the middle of an Engine Replacement Programme for one of its aircrafts. Another aircraft is due for mandatory maintenance as allowed by the regulatory authority.

“In these circumstances, these airlines clearly cannot continue to undertake schedule operations, hence the inevitable recourse to self-regulatory suspension.”
