National Peace Committee meets with Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has prayed the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal sitting at the Court of Appeal, Abuja, to order the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to grant him access to inspect electoral materials.

President Buhari was announced winner of the the February 23 presidential elections.

However, in an exparte application through his lawyers led by Wole Olanipekun (SAN), and brought to the tribunal on Thursday, Buhari demanded access to inspect the presidential election materials.

He asked the Court of Appeal to compel INEC to allow him access to inspect and make copies of the documents and to be certified as true copies by the electoral umpire.

He based his application on the provisions of Section 151 (1) and (2) of the Electoral Act.

Recall that presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, who came second in that election had also asked the election tribunal to compel INEC to produce sensitive and none sensitive materials used for the election for inspection and scanning.
